DIMAPUR, Aug 12 - All Nagaland College Students� Union (ANCSU) on Sunday reiterated that the college students of the State would abstain from attending their classes until the State Government addressed its three-point charter of demands submitted to the Chief Minister on Friday. It cautioned that any college student defying the call would be dealt with seriously as the volunteers would be monitoring the institutions.
The Union has also appealed to all the college authorities and staff to understand the genuine demands of the college students and continue to extend cooperation. It acknowledged the support extended by the college authorities thus far.
The union held a peaceful demonstration in front of its office in Kohima and DC Court junction here on Friday seeking Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio�s immediate intervention in addressing their demands. All the colleges in the State remained shut since that day.
The ANCSU urged him to resolve the land encroachment issue of Kohima Science College, Jotsoma (Autonomous) and said it will not allow any encroachment of any college land.
The Union also demanded proper demarcation of boundaries of all government colleges in the State with fencing/concrete walls. They further demanded permanent settlement of their scholarship issue and setting up of separate cell or nodal department for the same. They wanted disbursement of scholarships within a stipulated time or month every year.
