SENAPATI, Oct 17 - Liangmai Naga Council (Manipur) and Rongmei Naga Council (Manipur) while directing the Liangmai and Rongmei people not to attend the United Naga Council (UNC) sponsored �First Conference of Naga Village Authority of Southern Nagalim,� have announced 36 hour total bandh from 6 am tomorrow in Liangmai and Rongmei inhabited areas.
In a joint statement, both the apex tribe bodies said that they have been requesting affiliation to the fold of UNC for the last three/four years but the request was turned down. As such, we have taken the decision to boycott the activities of UNC for the past two/three years, they said.
However, the statement said that the Liangmai and Rongmei people have been participating and supporting the Naga National Movement for self determination since its inception and will continue to involve and support it till an amicable solution is brought about. �We have welcomed and accepted the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and GPRN/NSCN (IM),� they added.
