By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Jan 8 The Naga civil societies under the aegis of the Naga Hoho have decided to meet Karbi civil societies, Peace Forum and Ahoms at the earliest to have people-to-people dialogue in order to bring the situation arising out of the Karbi and Rengma Naga clash in Karbi Anglong to normalcy.

Deliberating on the prevailing tension among the Karbis and the Rengma Nagas at a meeting held at the Naga Council Dimapur office premises here today, the Naga civil society also resolved to appeal to the Assam Government to treat both the Karbis and Rengmas equally in terms of providing relief materials to the displaced persons and ex-gratia payment to the families of the deceased.

While deliberating on the larger political issues in regard to the Karbi-Naga imbroglio, it was resolved to address the issues politically in the near future.

The meeting further resolved that henceforth, the individuals and different Naga organisations should not meet the Karbi civil societies and others separately without the knowledge of the joint Naga civil societies and that all types of relief materials should be handed over collectively.

The meeting was attended by Nagaland Baptist Church Council, Naga Mothers Association, Naga Council Dimapur, Naga Students Federation, Dimapur Naga Students Union and Naga Peoples Movement for Human Rights. This was stated in a release issued by Naga Hoho president P Chuba Ozukum and general secretary Mutsikhoyu Yhobu.
