NAAC gives A Grade to Kaliabor College

GUWAHATI, Nov 20 - Kaliabor College has been accredited with A grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore. This was stated in a press release.

A peer team constituted by the NAAC with chairman Professor Asish Paul, former VC of Kalyani University (West Bengal), Prof Jyoti P Jadhav, Professor & Head of Biotechnology, Department of Shivaji University (Maharastra) and Dr Jawed Ahmed, former Principal of Marwari College, Ranchi (Jharkhand) visited Kaliabor College on October 15, 16 and 17 last.

With a three-day academic exercise the peer team prepared a report and based on the report and score given to the college, NAAC gave A grade to the college in its standing committee meeting held on November 15. The team praised the infrastructure and student support facilities available in the college.

Apart from undergraduate courses in Arts, Science and Commerce streams the college has also been offering BCA, BBA, B Sc Biotechnology, B Voc and M Com courses under Gauhati University. In recent years, the college has initiated new programmes like students exchange, teacher exchange, student innovation club, green audit and Atmaram Sarma Chhatra Gaveshana awards. It has also been able to get different infrastructure grants from the Department of Science & Technology and the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India apart from the UGC and the State Government. With these grants, the college has developed its infrastructure including its laboratories to a level which attracts students from 14 districts of the State.

Principal Dr HK Chaliha has expressed gratitude to all concerned for this achievement.
