GUWAHATI, Jan 15 Police is examining the footage of the close circuit cameras installed in Chandmari area to gather leads into the mystery surrounding the death of Bhagawan Goswami, head of History Department of Cotton College.

CCTV footages captured during the recently concluded North East Book Fair at the Assam Engineering Institute playground are also being examined.

The body of Goswami, who went missing from the book fair under mysterious circumstances on January 4, was found on the bank of river Brahmaputra near Sukreswar temple on January 13. The body had injury marks.

Police told this reporter that the investigation into the death of Goswami is on and till now it has not been ascertained whether it was a case of homicide or a suicide.

We are probing both the angles. The post-mortem report is also awaited. Once the autopsy report arrives, things would get clearer, a senior police official said.

Investigators also informed that the CCTV footage gathered from the book fair has spotted the deceased both while making entry as well as exit. However, there is no such capture in the Chandmari police point cameras.
