By Kongkon K Bora

SIVASAGAR, Oct 8 Mystery surrounds the death of Pradip Gogoi (30), a resident of Demual village near Bagsu area of Sivasagar district, who is presumed to have died under mysterious circumstances at the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border near Sadiya in Tinsukia district.

Gogoi, who was suspected of having Naxalite links, was allegedly killed by police in the aftermath of the carbine snatching incident at Sadiya on October 4 last. Gogoi was allegedly a part of the three-member Naxalite team who had snatched a carbine belonging to the police. He is presumably died when police opened fire at the team, while his two companions escaped.

On the other hand, Tinsukia police have maintained that Gogoi died due to internal conflict among his group.

The family members of Pradip Gogoi are confused on the whole issue. They got the news about Pradips death from an anonymous caller. Pradips brother Prasanta had gone to Tinsukia to get the body, but returned without meeting the caller, who had promised to show him the body.
