By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Nov 21 Imphal airport has finally made a debut on the International aviation map after Myanmars private airline Golden Myanmar made a maiden landing at the airport at 12 noon today.

The 180 seat flight, which took off from Mandalay around 11 am, brought a 100-strong Myanmarese delegation led by Chief Ministers U Thar Aye and U Ye Myint of Mandalay and Saigang divisions to attend the 10-day Manipur Sangai Festival. The flight on its return to Mandalay on Thursday will take 122 passengers from Imphal.

The new air route operation between India and Myanmar is part of a bilateral air services agreement signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singhs visit to Myanmar last year.

Later in the evening, the Myanmarese leaders attended the inaugural function of the 10-day Manipur Sangai Festival at Hafta Kangjeibung in Imphal.

Earlier, the Myanmar leaders visited State and private- run healthcare centres and Manipur Assembly complex. They will leave for Dibrugarh tomorrow.
