�My Vote My Assam� awareness rally on April 6

MIRZA, April 3 - The Kamrup election district administration will organise a mass awareness rally on April 6 at Palasbari Legislative Assembly Constituency.

The rally will be conducted under the Kamrup Disability Assistance Centre (K-DAC Cell), which is an initiative under the �My Vote My Assam� campaign of Kamrup election district, stated a press release issued by the DIPRO of Kamrup on Saturday.

The rally will be flagged off by the Kamrup Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Vinod Seshan in the presence of the newly-appointed Deputy Commissioner of South Kamrup, Rajib Prakash Baruah.

The rally has been organised in order to spread the message on the need to exercise the right to vote by every member of the society, irrespective of those suffering from physical disabilities.

The rally will be attended by officials of various departments and members of the general public, besides specially-abled people.

The Kamrup election district administration has taken special initiative to help the voters with disabilities in casting their votes in the designated booths. Initiative such as ramp facilities and wheelchairs at polling stations, Braille brochures for the visually impaired, preference to specially-abled voters, special volunteers for polling booths etc., have been taken in Kamrup election district for the benefit of the challenged voters.

Further, voters with any disability will not be required to stand in the queue and will be given first preference. Moreover, the first disabled voter in each polling booth will be felicitated with a gamosa by the respective Presiding Officer.
