Mutilated body of abducted Pakistani Sikh found

By The Assam Tribune

Islamabad, Jan 9 (IANS): The mutilated body of a Sikh man who was abducted in November from Pakistan's northwest tribal region has been found, a media report said Wednesday.

Mohinder Singh, who ran a shop of herbal medicines in Tabia area in Khyber Agency, was kidnapped by unidentified armed people from his shop November 20 last year, The News International reported. The body was found in Chora area, officials said.

His brother Daswant Singh said that after the abduction, the family approached the pro-government Zakhakhel tribal militia for rescuing Mohinder but they did not help. "We are poor and loyal citizens of Pakistan and have no enmity with anyone. I don't know the crime of my brother for which he was murdered," said Daswant.

He said Mohinder's body was found mutilated and beyond recognition, and demanded the government to protect the minorities.

Mohinder Singh, who was diabetic, left behind a wife and nine children.
