Musician Rajkumar Malla dies in road mishap

NAGAON, April 7 - Rajkumar Malla, a renowned musician of the district, breathed his last today at a private nursing home in Guwahati after he was injured seriously in a tragic road mishap yesterday in Nagaon. He was only 45.

He left behind his wife, only little daughter and some other close relatives. Rajkumar, popularly recognised as an expert of musical instruments, played almost all musical instruments with various veteran singers of the district as well as the State and also sang various songs in various musical functions in the State and abroad. He had dominated the musical society of the district for more than two decades since his teenage years.

According to sources, he went out on his scooty yesterday from his residence situated at Nagaon town�s Teliagaon village when he was rammed in by an Alto car on the Nagaon-Laokhowa road in which he sustained severe injuries. He was admitted in a very critical condition to a private nursing home in Guwahati immediately. But today in the early morning he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the nursing home.

His earthly remains were brought later directly to Rupranga Sangskritik Gosthi, in Nagaon today and hundreds of cultural activists, social workers, members of various cultural groups and organisations, local artistes and others paid floral tributes to him and also condoled his demise.
