By Sports reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 27 Fancied Mumbai captured three points with a vital 20-run first innings lead against Assam as the Ranji Trophy Super League match ended in a draw in Mumbai today.

In reply to Assams first innings total of 298, Mumbai scored 318. Assam were 53 for three when stumps were finally drawn.

Former India player Abhisek Nayar saved the day for Mumbai with a defiant 112 off 143 balls. His century and a 171-run partnership for the fourth wicket with opener Sahil Kukreja (76) virtually dragged the match away from Assam. However, after the fall of Kukreja, the hosts were again in trouble losing their eighth wicket at 268. At that juncture it looked like Assam may take the lead. Mumbai lost their ninth wicket at 291. But experienced Ajit Agarkar (29) kept his cool and with last man Dhawal Kulkarni snatched away the match from Assam adding vital 27 runs.

Assam spinner Arlen Konwar picked up five wickets giving away 101 runs while Dhiraj Goswami took three for 77.
