Muivahs statement a political move: BJP

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, March 25 - Insisting that the contents of the Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN(I-M) have not been made public yet, the State BJP today described the statement of the Naga outfits general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah over Nagalim as a political move.

On the other hand, the AGP today dashed off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking the Central Government to clear its stand on the issue of Nagalim.

State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass cautioned the Naga rebel leader against making such statements and asked him to instead ensure that peace in the inter-state border areas is not disturbed.

People should not be confused by his statements. The statements regarding integration of Naga-inhabited areas in proposed Nagalim are politically motivated, Dass said.

AGP president Atul Bora said under no circumstance the party would accept any further disintegration of Assam. The Central Government should make its stand clear in the wake of Muivahs statement, he said, seeking a permanent solution to the inter-state border dispute.

CPI(M) State secretary Deben Bhattacharyya said Muivahs statement has created doubts in the minds of the people living along the border and asked the Centre to make the Framework Agreement public. He said that the fact that the Framework Agreement has been kept a secret itself smacks of a conspiracy.

The Left-Democratic Manch, a joint platform of ten political parties, also demanded the Centre to make public the Framework Agreement.
