Muivah to visit native village after 40 years

IMPHAL, April 29 � Naga militant group NSCN (IM) general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah will visit his native Somdal village in Manipur�s Tangkhul community dominated Ukhrul district, about 100 km north of the State capital next month after nearly 40 years.

Hectic preparations are on for a public reception of the militant leader at the Ukhrul district headquarters, about 84 km north of Imphal, a source from the hill town said. �A public reception will be held at the Tangkhul Naga Long ground here on May 8,� a source from Ukhrul said today.

Though it couldn�t be confirmed when the militant leader will be arriving at Somdal, the Guwahati edition of a Kolkata-based newspaper on Wednesday reported that he will drive from Dimapur on May 3 after coming back from New Delhi on May 1.

The 75-year-old leader Muivah is likely to have consultations with the leaders Naga organizations from other Naga-inhabited districts such as Chandel and Tamenglong besides his native Ukhrul during the homecoming.
