MP demands railway facilities

DIPHU, Dec 14 � Biren Sing Engti, Member of Parliament from the hill district, has urged Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal to sanction stops of several trains like Jaswantpur Express, Chandigarh Express and Kanyakumari Express at the Diphu Railway Station.

He has also requested the Railway Minister to arrange brief stops for Chandigarh Express and Kanyakumari Express at Bokajan Station and maximum two-minute halt for all other mail and express trains at Diphu Station.

Engti further urged the Railway Minister to expedite the process of construction of a VIP retiring room, one lodge, and extension of sheds at both the platforms of Diphu Raiway Station.

Engti, in a letter to the Union Railway Minister, said that Diphu being the headquarters of Karbi Anglong district, connecting the poor tribal populace with Assam and neighbouring Nagaland, requires some facilities from railway department immediately.

The MP said Diphu Station has been controlled by Lumding Division and it has a record of revenue earning for railways while Bokajan is the only industrial town of the district, where Central Government is running a unit of the Cement Corporation of India.
