Morigaon to host NE Zone Santosh Trophy

MORIGAON, Jan 6 � The 69th Santosh Trophy National Football Championship for NE Zone will be held from January 18 to 23 at Khirod Baruah Stadium here.

Addressing a press conference, Ankur Datta, secretary, Assam Football Association (AFA) released the fixture of the championship here today. Datta said that viewing the potentialities of football in Morigaon district the AFA has decided to hold the Santosh Trophy matches here and Morigaon will get national exposure in football perspective through these tournament.

The seven states of North east India have been divided into two groups. Group A is consists of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh while Group B consists of three states � Mizoram, Meghalaya and Tripura. For the selection of Assam team coaching camp with 70 footballers is going on at Morigaon Khirod Baruah Stadium.
