MORIGAON, Sept 5 - There was no respite in the flood situation in Morigaon district as the Brahmaputra and its tributaries are still flowing above the danger level.

The Morigaon district administration sources said on Friday that six persons have drowned while a total of 1,64,000 people were affected in three revenue circles Lahorighat, Bhuragaon and Mayong in the district.

As many as 56 relief and shelter camps have been opened in the district by the administration so far. The Morigaon district administration has distributed a total of 1,634 quintals of rice, among other relief materials, among the flood-affected people. Apart from this, 2,000 quintals of cattle fodder was also sent to those areas.
