Morigaon admn gearing up for TAC polls

MORIGAON, May 26 � Hectic preparations are being made to hold free and fair Tiwa Autonomous Council (TAC) elections on June 7. Addressing a press-conference here at Morigaon on May 25, Aruna Rajoria, DC, Morigaon said that election machineries of Morigaon district is actively involved in training of polling officials. As many as 122 candidates are in fray in 19 constituencies of Morigaon district while 1 lakh, 24 thousand, 53 voters will exercise their franchise. Among the voters, 62,515 are female and 61,538 are male. The highest number of female votes in TAC is the most significant aspect of the election.

There will be a total of 189 polling stations in Morigaon district, 98 in Nagaon district and 50 in Kamrup (Metro), the DC, Morigaon said.

Talking to newsmen, the SP Morigaon Arabinda Kalita said that among 189 polling stations, 11 are very sensitive, 71 are sensitive and 107 are normal polling stations.
