Mooshaharys embarrassing moment at CWC

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Oct 18 The elite forces that he once led may have played crucial role during the Commonwealth Games (CWG), but its former chief and Meghalaya Governor Ranjit Sekhar Mooshahary following a goof up by the Organising Committee (OC) faced embarrassing moments, when his invitation cards were found to be invalid.

Mooshahary, who led the National Security Guard (NSG) performed critical role but its former chief was almost evicted from the VVIP enclosure during the closing ceremony but for intervention of top officials. The high security T-1 accreditation card was found invalid by the laser guided computer, when Mooshahary flashed his card.

The high-tech computer stopped the Governors card without the tickets because the security system for the VVIPs was introduced by the OC at a later stage was not set up and tested properly, said sources.

The Governor, who was accompanied by his family members, faced awkward moments, when he had to vacate the numbered seats, when the allottees landed up. The Governor and family then moved to another enclosure, where the Chief Ministers and Governors were seated and to his relief some of the VVIPs had failed to turn up.

An upset Mooshahary has sent an angry letter to chairman of the OC, Suresh Kalmadi. Meghalaya Government has also lodged a protest through its Resident Commissioner.

Meghalaya was represented by 70-odd Wangla drummers at the Opening Ceremony . The team too faced bitter experience because of lack of proper arrangements. The Meghalaya Government officials had to intervene, when some drummers fell sick and found to be unfit to perform.
