Mooshahary stresses on reformed education

By The Assam Tribune

SHILLONG, Jan 11 Meghalaya Governor R S Mooshahary today emphasised on the need of a reformed education system to root out unemployment faced by the youths in the State.

Education system should change for good. Unlike 50 years back, present education has failed to cater to the needs of the youth today, Mooshahary said.

He emphasised on the need to bring in a better system of education which will open opportunities and solve the present unemployment in the State.

The Governor was interacting with around 300 youths drawn from different parts of the city at the Raj Bhawan on account of National Youth Day.

Mooshahary interacted with the youths on different social topics that they felt his intervention could bring in a change from the policy makers.

My vision for Meghalaya is to become a leading State in the NE. In achieving this, we need to re-build the reputation that Shillong once had, its charm that attracted people for academic pursuits, the Governor said while replying to a query from one of the youths.

Slamming the youth in the State for desiring to stay and work within Meghalaya only, Mooshahary encouraged them to get out of such thinking.

Move outside and search for better opportunities that is waiting for you. You should venture out because you are no less than the youths from other States in the country, he said.

Meghalaya observed the National Youth Day on account of the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

A total of 400 children from Caroline locality of the city have been adopted by the Ramakhrishna Mission for their all round development. PTI
