GUWAHATI, Jan 1 � Assam girl Monalisha Sonowal, representing India in the 17th Asian Youth (Boys & Girls), 22nd Junior Women and 29th Junior Men Asian Weightlifting Championships at Doha, Qatar today.

Informing this, Bhabajyoti Goswami, technical official of the championship, said on the opening day of the championship Indian girls Mohin Chavan and Monalisha Sonowal won gold medals in the 44kg Youth Girls� and 48kg Junior Women categorries respectively.

Mohin lifted a total weight of 131kg (58kg snatch, 73kg clean and jerk) while Monalisha totaled 154kg(66kg snatch, 88kh clean and jerk) to win gold medals.
