Molestation accused arrested

By Correspondent

TURA, May 19 - Molestation accused, Dipankar Bhattacharjee, who allegedly tried to sexually abuse two women, was arrested on Wednesday after he was released from hospital.

Bhattacharjee was accused on April 29 by two women from Tura of calling them to a room where he attempted to unrobe them on the excuse of a medical check up. He allowed the two victims to leave after they raised their voice against him though not before threatening them to keep silent.

The accused was allegedly guilty of treating more women the same way but they kept silent fearing social stigma.

Bhattacharjee is a computer trainer working on a Central Government run training programme under PMVKY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana).

However, upon learning of the FIR being filed against him, the accused feigned health issues and got himself admitted into the Tura Civil Hospital. He had been lodged in the hospital since April 30 and was released on May 15.

We tried to arrest him on May 14 itself, but the Court was closed when the release took place. He was formally arrested the very next day, stated district police chief, Dr MGR Kumar.
