Moidul Islam Bora no more

GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - Former minister and a general secretary of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) Moidul Islam Bora died at a city hospital around 6 am today. He was 61.

Bora represented the Kamalpur Legislative Assembly Constituency as an AGP nominee in 1985 and 1996.

Bora, who was the Minister of State for Sports and Youth Welfare and Food and Civil Supplies in the Prafulla Kumar Mahanta-led government, lost his wife, Seema Parvin Bora, a leader of the AGP�s women wing, about two months back.

He leaves behind his only daughter and a host of relatives. His body was taken to the AGP headquarters at Ambari and his native place, Baihata Chariali. His body will be kept at his Jyotinagar

residence tonight and after paying floral tributes at his body at the Ambari office of the AGP, his last rites will be performed at 11 am tomorrow, stated an AGP press release.

The AGP has declared a three-day mourning and during this period, the party flag will be flown at half-mast at all its offices, said the party.

In a condolence message, AGP president Atul Bora described Moidul Islam Bora�s death as an irreparable loss for the party and the State as well.

Bora�s death has also been condoled by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president Anjan Dutta.
