NALBARI, Jan 25 � The name of renowned folk artiste ans flautist Prabhat Sarma has been announced for the Mohan Bhaira Award 2015 here on Saturday.
The Nalbari district unit of AASU and Zilla Unnati Sabha have jointly been presenting the Mohan Bhaira Award to a senior artiste every year since 2009.
The award will be presented to the artiste at a function to be held at the Nalbari Natya Mandir on February 1 so as to coincide with the death anniversary of renowned folk artiste and Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Mohan Bhaira. The award carries a cash award of Rs 10,000 along with a citation, among others.
It may be mentioned here that till date six folk artistes, namely Purnya Prava Dutta Tamuly(2009), Sitaram Ray (2010), Muktaram Baruah Ojah(2011), Manik Saikia Ojah (2012), Ruhin Rabha (2013) and Dwijen Gogoi (2014) have been awarded the Mohan Bhaira Award, while Prabhat Sarma (2015) will be presented the award on February 1 next.
