�Mofizuddin�s poetry has elements of harmony�

GUWAHATI, Oct 20 - The prize distribution ceremony of the 16th Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika Literary Awards was held at the ITA, Machkhowa, on Wednesday, stated a press release today. Kabyasindhu Mofizuddin, a collection of analytical writings on the works of Gyanmalini Kabi Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika, edited by Anish Uz Zaman, was also released on the occasion.

The function was attended by noted litterateur and ex-president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha Dr Nagen Saikia as the chief guest, Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, ex-Pro Vice Chancellor of Tezpur University, as the guest of honour and Dr Anil Kumar Goswami, ex-principal of Cotton College, and other literary and academic luminaries.

In his speech, Dr Saikia said late Ahmed Hazarika�s poetry has elements of solidarity and harmony which, if harnessed, can pave the way for a peaceful and progressive society. Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury praised the steps taken by Maria�s Public School and the memorial committee to remember the poet and his works. He said that there is a distinct rhythm in the poet�s verses which make them more alluring.

Nellie Ahmed Tanweer, founder and managing trustee, Maria�s Public School and the poet�s granddaughter, said that the Mofizuddin Ahmed Hazarika literary competition was the realisation of her mother, Sofia Z Ahmed�s dream.

Later, prizes were distributed among the winners of the competitions held in August. Alpana Khound Phukan, principal, Maria�s Public School, delivered the vote of thanks.
