Modi�s maiden trip to Manipur on Nov 30

IMPHAL,Nov 24 � The Prime Minister�s Office (PMO) has confirmed that Prime Minister Narandra Modi would attend the closing function of the ongoing 8th edition of Manipur Sangai Festival as the chief guest on November 30.

Official sources here said that the Prime Minister will be visiting Manipur for few hours to attend the closing function of the State festival which aims to showcase the uniqueness of the shy and gentle Sangai, the brow-antlered deer found in the country�s only floating park �Keibul Lamjao� and to promote the State as a world class tourism destination.

A detailed programme of the closing day of the festival has been forwarded by the State Government following directive from PMO,sources added.

A detailed programme of the PM�s visit to Manipur is likely to be provided soon. It is worth mentioning that Manipur Government had invited the Prime Minister to grace the Manipur Sangai Festival on the closing day. The proposed visit of Modi on November 30 would be his maiden visit to Manipur after he become PM.

On November 21, the 10-day Manipur Sangai Festival was inaugurated by Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi and Myanmar�s Chin Division Chief Minister U Hong Ngai at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre here.
