Modi Govt depriving dues to State: CM

By Spl Correspondent

NEW DELHI, Oct 30 - Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today launched a scathing attack on the Modi Government, accusing it of depriving Assam of its dues, even as he described Governor PB Acharya as a RSS pracharak pushing the Sanghs agenda in the State.

Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, the Chief Minister, who was joined by former Union Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar, referred to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in Bihar where he said that the era of Special Category States was over. The interest of Assam and other north-eastern States would be further hurt by the Centres decision, he said.

Describing Jaitleys statement as insensitive, Gogoi said that the backward NE region needed the special attention from the Centre.

Assam alone stands to lose about Rs 9,000 crore, he said alleging that the BJP-led NDA Government was pro-capitalist and pro-corporate.

The reversal of the 90:10 funding pattern, discarding of the Special Category States status, suspension of the special industrial package, among others, were some of the recent decisions that harmed the regions interest.
