TEZPUR, July 12 � A sensational situation has prevailed here in Sonitpur district after the incident of death of a person who was severely assaulted by the public on charges of kidnaping of a youth. One Baneswar Nath of Puthimari-Baruadalani area under the Tezpur PS went to Towbhanga-Silonipam area falling under Jamugurihat PS this morning for purchasing a boat for the use of business purpose in river Gabharu. There he was guided by the boy reportedly known as Kanhayalal Malla (12) to the spot where the boat is manufactured. After sometime, a rumour spread that the boy Kanhaylal Malla was kidnapped by the businessman. On receiving the information, the easy-going people of the area got infuriated and started searching for the due. However, though the businessman and the boy were found coming back from the boat manufacturing place, people started assaulting the person alleging him a kidnapper. It is to be stated here that even after the boy clarified the matter before the people that he was not kidnapped, people went on assaulting the person. Later on, police rushed to the spot and recovered the person. Though he was rushed to the North Jamuguri PHC, he died on way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, SP, Sonitpur, AP Tewari, informed that investigation is on to find out the actual culprit behind in the incident.
