GUWAHATI, Nov 28: The Danish rock band Michael Learns to Rock, popularly known as MLTR, is set to thrill the Northeasts music buffs at the citys Sarusajai Stadium on December 13.
The event has been organised by Making It Happen (MIH), and is a pre-promo of Metropolis Urban Winter Festival 2016, in association with Northeast Today, a press release said.
Young guns of the Northeast known for their fascination for music are all geared up to welcome one of the most popular music bands in the world. The Danish band will be touring across many cities during their visit to India this year starting December 11, and is expected to sweep the crowd with their all-time hits like Paint My Love, You Took My Heart Away, Sleeping Child, Someday and many more, the organisers said in a statement.
MLTRs India visit is part of its 25 Live Anniversary Celebration Tour and they performed in Mumbai and Shillong during their earlier visit to the country.
MLTR first publicly performed on May 22, 1988, in Rock Grand Prix at Aarhus biggest venue, Ridehuset, and came up as one of the two winning teams, and continued playing live. Finally, they signed a record deal with the Danish label Medley in 1989, but did not release their first album until September 1991.
Although the band got some initial disappointments, The Actor topped the Danish chart and also did well in Norway, Sweden, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Hard work and passion paid off as in January 1992, the album topped the Danish charts, followed soon after by success in Asia, selling 25,000 copies and earning gold status in Indonesia alone. MLTR was now already making waves and soon the world was about to witness and enjoy one of the most popular and heart-warming songs of all time.
