GUWAHATI, April 16 Congress legislator Rumi Nath was finally arrested on Tuesday morning by Guwahati Police and after remanding her to 24 hours police custody, the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (Kamrup Metro) sent the MLA of Borkhola constituency to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, investigators recovered a revolver, two pistols and a single barrel gun from a rented accommodation of Anil Chauhan, the kingpin of countrywide auto theft racket, in Mirza on Thursday.

Earlier, the bail plea of Rumi Nath was rejected by the Court reasoning that the charges are of serious nature and the accused being an influential person might try to hamper the investigation. The Court has, however, sought the medical report of the legislator on April 17.

Linked with auto-theft racket, Nath is facing charges under various Sections of the Indian Penal Code, besides the Arms Act and the Wildlife Protection Act.

Nath was arrested in connection with the two cases registered in Dispur and Azara police stations. The controversial MLA had recommended issuance of car passes for vehicles owned by Anil Chauhan, who fell in police net recently.

Meanwhile, Congress worker and wife of the notorious auto theft kingpin Anil Chauhan, Reeta Chauhan has also been arrested on similar charges by the investigators taking the tally of those arrested to six, which included the estranged husband of the legislator and her PSO.

Police, meanwhile, froze more than 15 bank accounts of Anil Chauhan. A team of Delhi Police has also arrived to question Chauhan.
