Mizoram to impose Entry Tax on goods

AIZAWL, Dec 15 - The Mizoram Cabinet approved �The Mizoram Entry Tax Rules, 2015� which would empower the State machinery to impose taxes on imported goods.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers, convened under the leadership Chief Minister Lal on Monday, had altogether 17 agendas.

The Cabinet meeting has unanimously approved �The Mizoram Entry Tax Rules, 2015� passed by the State Assembly during its monsoon session in July last.

Speaking on �The Mizoram Entry Tax Rules, 2015�, Taxation Minister Lalsawta had earlier said that taxes would be imposed on 45 items imported from neighbouring States and out of this the State Government is expected to gain about Rs 300 lakh revenue a year.

The meeting also approved �The Mizoram (Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement) Bill, 2015 and decided that an ordinance be made on this with immediate effect.
