Aizawl, Feb 4: Mizoram Rajya Sabha member K Vanlalvena today stressed the need to build roads along the Indo-Bangladesh border during a motion of thanks to the President’s Speech in the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament.

Vanlalvena highlighted the road projects undertaken by the Central Government in Mizoram and stressed the importance of building Indo-Bangladesh border roads.
Vanlalvena stated that the four-lane road project between Siaha and Aizawl would start soon, and that the double-lane road projects from Aizawl to Champhai and Selling to Tuipang have also started.

The MP also mentioned the upcoming and current projects in Mizoram like the one at Lawngtlai meant to link the Paletwa Myanmar seaport and stated how these roads would be helpful not only for Mizoram but people from other States as well. He praised the Central Government for its initiative in establishing a Bangladesh border trade centre at Kawrpuichhuah near Tlabung and building a double-lane road between Lunglei and Tlabung for border trade.

He also expressed his concern over non-accessibility of some villages and BSF outposts along the Bangladesh border and requested the Centre to develop road communication in these border areas.
