Mizoram district election office burgled

By The Assam Tribune

AIZAWL, Aug 27 - Mizoram police have launched an investigation into the burglary in the Mamit district election office in which electoral roll revision forms for Bru refugees were stolen.

Mamit district superintendent of police HL Thangzuala said they received a report that the district election office was burgled by unidentified miscreants on the night of August 23 following which a number of forms 6,7&8 of electoral roll revision were found missing.

He said they received complaint about the burglary around 8 pm on the next day, Friday, and they immediately registered a case. He pointed out that the time gap between the incident and the complaint hampered forensic investigation.

The electoral roll revision forms of the Bru refugees lodged in six transit camps in Tripura were brought to Mamit on August 20. The burglar(s) broke the window bars of the ground floor of the election office where the forms were kept, Election officials said.
