Mizoram cases reach 1,692

AIZAWL, Sept 22 - With 107 more people testing positive for the novel coronavirus during the last 24 hours, Mizoram�s virus count today jumped to 1,692.

An official source stated a total of 1,905 samples were tested during the last 24 hours.

All the 107 new cases were reported from Aizawl district, including 106 from 759 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College (laboratory and one from 1,059 samples tested with rapid antigen tests, it said.

The new positive cases include a two-month-old baby from Sawleng village in Aizawl district.

As many as 38 cases were reported from the Bawngkawn locality here, which took the local level task force on COVID-19 by surprise.

According to reports, the local task force leaders wanted retesting of samples collected from the locality as there were possibilities of false positive

cases.

Officials said all the 759 samples tested at the Zoram Medical College were collected during contact tracing between September 14 and 20.

Of the total 1,692 cases, 680 are active and 1,012 people have already recovered from the disease.
