Mizoram Budget session from November 11

By The Assam Tribune

AIZAWL, Oct 25 The delayed Budget session of the Mizoram Assembly will begin on November 11 with the State finance minister expected to table the annual Budget for the 2014-15 fiscal, an official said here on Saturday.

The two-week-long Budget session will be held from November 11 to November 26, an official of the State Assembly said.

Finance, Planning and Programme Implementation Minister Lalsawta will present the full-fledged Budget for the current fiscal (2014-2015) on the first day of the session.

The Budget could not be presented in the State Assembly as the new government at the Center was yet to allocate the annual plan outlay for the current financial year. Instead, the State Government had to twice seek votes-on-account.

Some bills were expected to be introduced during the upcoming session. The National Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2014 would be brought to the State legislature for ratification, the official added.

The official and chief ministerial level discussions of all States in the country with the Planning Commission have not been held yet.

Generally, during March-April, the Planning Commission holds discussions with officials and Chief Ministers of all States to finalise their annual plan size.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address, indicated that the 64-year old plan panel that formulated five-year and annual plans and influenced policy decisions would be revamped. IANS
