Mizoram announces Rs 2-cr relief for Kerala

AIZAWL, Aug 21 - Mizoram government today announced Rs 2 crore relief for Kerala, which is devastated by one of the worst floods in the state�s history.

Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla today wrote to his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan, expressing his solidarity with the people of Kerala and informed him that the Mizoram government is making a contribution of Rs 2 crore towards disaster relief efforts, an official statement said today.

The Chief Minister in a separate letter also informed the Kerala Chief Minister that all 34 MLA�s of the Indian National Congress in the Mizoram also decided to contribute Rs 1 lakh each, totalling to Rs 34 lakh, in the hope that it may alleviate a small portion of the immense hardships currently faced by the people of Kerala, the statement added.
