Mizo CM urges grape growers to compete

AIZAWL, Feb 19 � Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla has urged the grape growers of the State to compete with imported wines which will come into the State following the repeal of the MLTP Act. He was visiting Tlangsam Winery owned by Champhai Grape Grower Society recently.

He discussed with the leaders of the Society about how to boost the produce and market of grape wine from the winery. The Society leaders apprised the CM of their problems in the brewing of wine which include, among others, lack of infrastructure. They said that due to shortage of equipments, they could not buy all the produce of the grape growers of even Champhai area, not to speak of other areas. They also mentioned about shortage of water storage.
