Mizo assurance on border peace

HAILAKANDI, March 10 - Kolasib district administration of Mizoram today assured that Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) activists will not create further law-and-order problem along the Assam-Mizoram interstate border in the Kachurthal area of Hailakandi district and they have decided to withdraw from the area.

This was conveyed to Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan by his Kolasib counterpart R Zarzosanga. �This is a positive development. We are expecting the situation to return to normal along the Assam-Mizoram border,� Khan said, adding, security forces will remain deployed in the area till complete normalcy returns.

Earlier this morning, MZP activists intruded into Assam territory and allegedly attacked Assam Police and CRPF personnel, leading to a mild lathicharge. There is, however, no report of any injury to anyone.
