IMPHAL, Sept 21 � A woman vendor who went missing on Friday was found dead here today. Her lifeless body was recovered from Nambul river in Irom Meijarao area this morning, sources said.
The victim has been identified as Sarakhatun (54), wife of Abdul Zalim of Hiyangthang Pallak Chandranadi. The body was wrapped in clothes and her hands and legs were found tied.
Suspecting hands of one Abdul Kadir (28) in the incident, an angry mob burnt down a house belonging to him at Hiyangthang area in Imphal West district. It is said the vegetable vendor reportedly went home on that day after getting some cash from her friends.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and investigation is on, reports added.
