Mising Language Day observed

SILAPATHAR, Nov 11 � The 30th Mising Language Day (Mising Agom Longe) was observed recently at various places here.

The Silapathar Mising Bangke Agom Kebang, i.e., the Silapathar branch of the Mising Sahitya Sabha, in association with Simenmukh Bangke, Muktiyar Bangke and Bimow Bangke Agom Kebang organised a day-long programme at the Silapathar Lakhipur cultural complex.

In the morning, the flag of the Mising Sahitya Sabha was hoisted by Romakanta Sungkarang, president of Silapathar BAK following a cleanliness drive. The swahid tarpan programme was initiated by Jiban Pegu, president of Simenmukh BAK. The ADC of Dhemaji, Bhaskar Pegu released Pimug, the first issue of the annual magazine of Silapathar BAK. Pimug has been edited by Debeswar Pegu.

A discussion �Role of youth generation to live the Mising language� was also held on the occasion and it was attended as resource person by Baby Morang Doley, associate professor of Silapathar College, Sunabor Mili, retired headmaster of Sila Janajati High School and Sonatan Bori, retired headmaster of Borchapari Tribal ME School.

The open session was attended by Mising Autonomous Council EM Kanak Doley, Dimow College principal Jayanta Mili, Dimow College associate professor Gojen Mipun, former principal of Simenmukh High School Bolin Tayeng and former activists of Mising Agom Kebang, Horinarayan Pegu, Kiresh Mohan Pegu and Subhakanta Regon, among others.

The open meet was presided over by Romakanta Sungkarang and the purpose of the meet was stated by Kushal Pegu, secretary, Silapathar BAK. Konak Kuli, district teacher award winner and headmaster of United Tribal High School, was felicitated in the meeting. A drawing and song competition was also held among the students on the occasion. The Dr Kamal Chandra Taye Memorial Merit Scholarship and Biladoi Pegu Memorial Merit Scholarship were also distributed in the same function.
