SILAPATHAR, July 25 � The Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK) and five leading organisations of the Misings, like Takam Mising Mime Kebang (All Mising Women Union), Mising Dirbi Kebang (Mising Cultural Association), Mising Agom Kebang (Mising Sahitya Sabha), Mising Bane Kebang (Mising Maha Sabha), Mising Mimag Kebang (Mising Sangram Samity) demanded holding of democratic election to Mising Autonomous Council (MAC) within this season.
The joint meeting, held at Silapathar Donyi Polo Cultural Complex yesterday also decided to oppose any interim body of the Mising Autonomous Council.
The meeting also welcomed the State Government�s move to hold the MAC election along with the election of Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council and Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council. The organisations expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for the move. The organisations also appealed the leaders of political parties and communities of MAC area to join hands for the MAC polls.
Moreover, the meeting has demanded declaration of the flood and erosions problem as a national problem for the greater interest of all communities.
The organisations have also decided to oppose the construction of mega dam, which, they said will create devastation to the Mising community along with other communities living in the river banks of Subansiri.
