GUWAHATI, May 16 - The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam Pradesh today made it clear that the Centre has not stopped scholarships for minority students of Assam.
The Minority Morcha of the State BJP said that rumours were being circulated by a vested interest group that scholarships for minority students of Assam have been stopped by the Central government.
�Such rumours have created confusion amongst the minorities of the State. Such scholarships are presented through the state government boards and departments meant for the welfare of the minorities. The Centre has not stopped the scholarships,� said Muminul Aowal, president of the Minority Morcha, adding that a section has been trying to politicise the issue, which has no base at all.
Aowal said that online application process for the scholarships is going on so as to streamline the system and plug all loopholes.
Aowal called upon all minorities not to be misled by such rumours and have faith in the BJP government.
