JALUKBARI, July 20 - In yet another case of child abduction, a minor girl and her younger brother were allegedly kidnapped from the Kamakhya Railway Station yesterday and police have swung into action to trace them. The minors have been identified as Pinky Rai (6) and her younger brother Gopal Rai (4).

According to Government Railway Police (GRP) sources, yesterday around 11 am, an unknown woman came near Platform No 4 towards the west end of the railway station where Pinky and Gopal used to live with their parents who begged for a living. The unknown woman, out of sympathy, offered the minors mother Ranjita Rai (24) to feed the kids in a nearby hotel. Since then, the two children have remained untraced.

Ranjita, after failing to trace her children despite a night-long search, informed the GRP, Kamakhya Outpost. A team from GRP, Kamakhya along with the mother is searching for the kids, but has remained unsuccessful till filing of this report.

Police sources further said that the kidnapped kids father, Pradip Rai (36), who hails from Bongaigaon, used to work as a handyman in city buses. But his casual approach to life coupled with his inebriated state most of the time, forced his wife a mother of four children to live on the railway platform and eke out a living by begging. Even though they have been asked to vacate the railway station on several occasions, they have not moved out.

The kids parents lodged a complaint with the Railway Police Station and Maligaon Police Station today. They have expressed fear that their children might have fallen into the trap of child traffickers.

The GRP and Maligaon police are trying their best to trace the minors. CCTV footage is being examined to find clues.
