Minimum wages hiked in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Oct 12 - Meghalaya Government today announced a minor hike in minimum daily wage for labourers and workers employed under the 28 Schedule of Employments in the State.

In a statement here, Principal Secretary Labour said the revised wages will take effect from April 2015 wherein various categories of workers are entitled to be paid.

�The government has revised the minimum wages payable to the employees under the 28 Schedule of Employments with effect from 1st April, 2015,� Principal Secretary Labour MS Rao said in the notification.

The wages for unskilled workers was hiked from Rs 100 per day to Rs 170, Rs 181 for semi-skilled workers.

For skilled workers the rate was hiked from Rs 140 to Rs 191 while Rs 212 for highly-skilled workers, he said. The last hike in minimum wage was in 2013. � PTI
