IMPHAL,Oct 15 � The 18 hour general strike called by the Coordination Committee (CorCom), a committee of major armed groups operating in Manipur, affected normal life in the State today.
The strike which came into effect from October 14 midnight was called as part of observing October 15 as National Black Day. The strike disturbed vehicular movement in the State, particularly in Imphal.
Functioning of State, Central and private offices and business establishments including market places was also disrupted. The strike was called to protest the merger of Manipur to the Indian Union on October 15,1949.
