Meticulous Photographer award to Dhiren Gogoi

DERGAON, Aug 19 - Dhiren Gogoi, a dedicated and honest Forest officer with a hobby to take photos of wild animals in exciting moods was honoured with the title �Meticulous Photographer� posthumously by AASHRAY, an organisation working for environmental conservation based at Dergaon on the occasion of World Photography Day today. It may be mentioned here that Dhiren Gogoin had passed away on October 24, 2015.

Born in 1960 at Bholaguri Badulipar in Golaghat district, Dhiren Gogoi started his career in the State Forest department and served in different capacities. He was serving as a Forester at the time of his death. During his service period in Kaziranga and Dergaon, he could earn a name for himself in the field of photography.

Inspite of his official duty, he continued his affair with photography and took photos of whatever caught his interest. Photography was his inborn talent for which he could earn name and fame in the field of photo journalism and establish agencies like DG Photo Media and LPN.

He was not a professional photographer but was a photographer in the true sense of the term. Though he clicked different kinds of photos but his keen interest was on nature and his special emphasis was on rare wild animals. He took several photos relating to animal conservation.

Through his photography he could contribute to environmental conservation. He always tried to help other people, specially journalists who needed a photo which Gogoi had.

�His untimely death has created a void in the field of photography, specially on wild animals,� Dulal Morang, a friend of Gogoi said.

�To honour the contributions of the dedicated photographer, who worked with precision and care, we have decided to present the title to him posthumously,� the secretary of AASHRAY Sanjoy Kr Hazarika said.

�The title will be presented posthumously on his fourth death anniversary on October 24 next in a formal ceremony,� the secretary added.
