Meritorious students felicitated at Goreswar

GORESWAR, June 26 - Altogether, 224 students who secured first division in the HSLC and HS final examination 2018 under the jurisdiction of Betna Siksha Aru Krishi Unnayan Sangha were felicitated with a japi, gamusa and a citation each at a programme organised on June 24 at the Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Bhawan at Goreswar in Baksa district.

The felicitation programme was presided over by Amindra Nath, president of the Sangha while the purpose of the meeting was explained by Haliram Das, incharge secretary of the Sangha.

Addressing the students and guardians as appointed speaker, Abdul Samad, Principal of Baihata Chariali B Ed College spoke about the teaching-learning process among the teacher and the taught. He said that there is no fixed theory for success, and is a continuous process.

Attending the meeting as chief guest, Nripendra Nath Talukdar, retired lecturer of Pub-Kamrup College recollected the names of individuals who brought glory to Goreswar in the field of education, culture and literature. He explained by citing examples of success stories of some distinguished personalities of the world and advised the upcoming generation to follow their ideals. He mentioned that education was needed to remove superstition, irrational customs and illogical notions from the society.

It may be mentioned here that renowned artist Ghana Deka of Guwahati felicitated Anindita Medhi, who secured 8th position in the HSLC examination this year from Rainbow English School, with a gamusa, japi and a cash award of Rs 10,000.

In the absence of the brilliant student, her father Kamal Medhi received the felicitation. Those felicitated included 152 HSLC students, while 72 were from Higher Secondary final level under the jurisdiction of Betna Siksha Aru Krishi Unnayan Sangha.
