Memo urges Anna to include vote of recall

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 20 Extending their full support to Anna Hazares fight against corruption, the All Assam Lawyers Association (AALA) today asked the noted public activist to include the provision of vote of recall of any elected representative in the Jana Lokpal Bill.

While welcoming Hazare to Guwahati, the lawyers body submitted a memorandum to Anna Hazare and asked to include the provision of recall, even if it is necessary to amend the Constitution of India and the Peoples Representation Act for that.

It is necessary to empower the common people to punish those public representatives, who forget to serve the people after getting elected. Thus the provision of vote of recall must be there to save the Indian democracy from corrupt leaders, AALA said.

Although India is the largest democratic country in the world, our country and our entire democratic system is getting deteriorated due to rampant corruption in every walk of life. The AALA, an umbrella organisation of lawyers of Assam exhibited solidarity with your movement to root out corruption, the memorandum to Hazare mentioned.

The memorandum also expressed the lawyers bodys faith over the present Jana Lokpal Bill Drafting Committee and said that the Bill would definitely empower the common people of India and would be a strong tool to root out corruption from the country.
