GUWAHATI, Aug 3 - A six-member delegation of the Bidyut Grahak Mancha, Guwahati today met Governor PB Acharya and handed over a memorandum to him on the overall power scenario and the practice of effecting hike in the power tariff in the State.
The delegation comprising Mancha president Benudhar Barooah, general secretaries Subodh Sarma and Masaddar Hussain, member technical Dilip Sarma, treasurer Kamal Krishna Das and advisor Akdas Ali Meer, also presented an analysis of the annual tariff petitions of the power utilities of the State � Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL), Assam Power General Corporation Ltd (APGCL) and Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Ltd (AEGCL) for the financial years of 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16.
The delegation also showed the loopholes in the arguments of the power utilities. It also suggested measures to improve the dismal power scenario of the State, said Benudhar Barooah.
The Governor gave a patient hearing to the Mancha delegation and told it that he would hold a discussion with the State�s Power Minister on the issues raised by it on August 8. He invited the Mancha also to take part in the discussion, Barooah said.
