Meghalaya Youth Cong vows to continue fight against Bill

By CORRESPONDENT

TURA, Feb 5 - The Meghalaya Pradesh Youth Congress (MPYC) has vowed to continue the fight against the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill after confirmation that the BJP-led NDA is going to table the Bill in the Rajya Sabha as a supplementary Bill.

Further, the Youth Congress members have vowed to expose the lies of the National Peoples Party (NPP) after Chief Minister Conrad Sangma was praised for his role in stopping the Citizenship Bill from making it to the Upper House of the Parliament.

The social media was flooded in the last couple of days by a person called Hayithung Bill Lotha who hailed Conrad Sangma unanimously and overwhelmingly as an iconic NE hero for successfully stalling and thwarting the Citizenship Bill in the Rajya Sabha, said MPYC president Richard Marak.

Calling it a PR stunt, the MPYC stated that the act was to save face for all the flak that Conrad has been facing recently regarding his lip-service protest against the Citizenship Bill.

Calling the matter laughable, Marak asked, Why would a party, hell bent on pushing a Bill, hail someone who would oppose them as a hero?

Calling for exposing the Conrad Sangma Government on the issue, the MPYC president said: Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared in Jammu on Sunday that the BJP was committed to the Citizenship Amendment Bill after which the BJP national general secretary, Ram Madhav, has also informed that the Citizenship Amendment Bill will be placed for approval in the Rajya Sabha as a supplementary Bill. Conrad was again ignored and did not get an audience with the Prime Minister.
