SHILLONG, April 7 - In preparation for 2022 National Games to be held in Meghal;aya, the first meeting of the Games Organising Committee (GOC) was held here on Friday.
Meghalaya would be hosting such a big event for the first time and there is a rush to get the infrastructure in place and so the State Government formed the GOC to chalk out the modalities.
Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh said one of the biggest challenges before the Government is land acquisition for building of the infrastructure.
Except some football grounds, the State has to build most of the stadium from the scratch, not to mention the Games Village. There is also an acute shortage of hotel rooms in the State Capital where most of the events are likely to be held.
